CBS (CZ) rubber accelerator is a highly efficient sulfenamide accelerator with excellent delayed vulcanization performance and extremely fast vulcanization speed. It ensures the physical and mechanical properties of rubber products on high-strength, high-frequency production lines by providing excellent scorch safety in the early stages of processing and rapidly releasing its activity after reaching the vulcanization temperature. Henan GO Biotech, through technological research and development, has enabled this product to exhibit outstanding crosslinking efficiency in natural rubber, reclaimed rubber, and SBR synthetic rubber.
CBS, chemically known as N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazole sulfinamide (CAS No.: 95-33-0), is commonly referred to as accelerator CZ in the industry. It appears as a grayish-white to pale yellow powder or granules, is chemically stable, and readily soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and dichloromethane. As a quasi-general-purpose accelerator, CBS provides excellent modulus development capabilities during vulcanization.

CBS (CZ) is a type of after-effect accelerator. At lower processing temperatures (such as during mixing and calendering), the sulfinamide bonds in its molecular structure are relatively stable and will not induce premature cross-linking reactions (i.e., scorching). When the temperature rises to the vulcanization temperature (above 140°C), the molecules rapidly decompose to produce active substances, inducing sulfur atoms to quickly form a three-dimensional network structure with the rubber molecular chains.
In formulation design, accurately identifying the differences between CBS and other promoters is crucial for process optimization. The following are selection recommendations from Henan High Energy Biotechnology based on laboratory data:
| Comparison items | CBS (CZ) | MBTS (DM) | TBBS (NS) |
| scorch safety | Excellent (longer) | medium | Excellent (longest) |
| vulcanization rate | Extremely fast | Slower | quick |
| Crosslinking density | high | medium | Highest |
| Typical uses | Tires, tapes, shoe soles | General industrial rubber products | High-performance tire tread |
Expert opinion: Although TBBS has a slight edge in scorch safety, CBS achieves the best balance between vulcanization plateau and cost-effectiveness, making it the most cost-effective choice for large tire manufacturers and industrial transmission belt production.
Primarily used in natural rubber and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) systems. CBS offers extremely high modulus and anti-aging properties, ensuring structural stability of tires under high-speed rotation and heat conditions.
In the production of conveyor belts and high-pressure hoses, CBS is often used in combination with accelerators TT and TS. Its excellent anti-burn properties allow for long-term extrusion processing in large-scale equipment without clumping.
In abrasion-resistant shoe soles and cable sheaths, CBS significantly improves injection molding and continuous vulcanization yields by providing short curing times, and the finished products have low odor, meeting green manufacturing requirements.
Q: Can CBS accelerators be used in food contact rubber products?
A: Not recommended. CBS develops a slightly bitter taste during vulcanization and does not meet stringent food-grade safety regulations, therefore it is not suitable for food-related rubber products.
Q: How to store CBS (CZ) to guarantee its 1-year shelf life?
A: It is recommended to store it in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Direct sunlight and high temperatures should be strictly avoided (preferably below 35℃) to prevent physical clumping or chemical decomposition.
Q: Can CBS be used alone?
A: Yes. However, in actual industrial production, in order to pursue more perfect physical properties, it is often compounded with thiuram-type (such as TT) or guanidine-type accelerators (such as D) to adjust the vulcanization start-up speed.
